A Message from the President: Welcome to Local 592

Brothers and Sisters,

On behalf of the officers, stewards, and members of TWU Local 592, I want to extend a warm welcome to all dispatchers joining our Local. We are proud to represent some of the most highly skilled aviation professionals in the industry and look forward to standing together as we continue to strengthen our collective voice.

As many of you know, Local 592 is navigating one of the busiest and most important periods in our history. Across our represented carriers, we are actively engaged in multiple contract negotiations, merger-related discussions, and efforts to improve wages, benefits, working conditions, and job security for our members. While these challenges demand significant attention from your union leadership, they also present tremendous opportunities to shape the future of our profession.

During this time, I want to remind every dispatcher of the critical role you play each and every day. While negotiations and industry changes continue in the background, our primary mission remains unchanged: safely planning, releasing, and flight following every operation entrusted to us. The crews and passengers who depend on our work may never see the countless decisions made behind the scenes, but their safety relies on the professionalism, expertise, and dedication that dispatchers bring to every flight.

The aviation industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Airlines are investing heavily in automation, artificial intelligence, and new technologies aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs. While technology can be a valuable tool, it can never replace the judgment, experience, critical thinking, and accountability that certificated dispatchers provide. In fact, as systems become more complex, the importance of skilled aviation professionals becomes even greater.

Now more than ever, we must continue to demonstrate the value of our profession. Every weather decision, operational adjustment, fuel strategy, reroute, and safety-focused action reinforces why dispatchers remain an essential component of the aviation system. The work you perform does not go unnoticed, and your union will continue fighting to ensure that airlines, regulators, and the public recognize the vital contribution dispatchers make to every successful flight.

As we move forward together, I encourage all members to remain engaged, stay informed, support one another, and take pride in the profession we represent. The challenges ahead are significant, but so is the strength of a united membership.
